HYSTEROSALPINGOGRAM (HSG)

HYSTEROSALPINGOGRAM (HSG)

This procedure is performed by the Radiologist while using fluoroscopy, and meant to investigate the shape of the uterine cavity as well as the shape and potency (openness) of the fallopian tubes.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The procedure requires the injection of a radio-opaque fluid material into the canal of the cervix using a tube or catheter. At times, the Radiologist may introduce a catheter to open a blocked or non-filling tube (selective catheterization).
